Do you want to feel the adrenaline rush as you race down the road like a true cyclist? Maybe you feel more at home on rough terrain, winding through the forest on a mountainbike? Or are you more of a speed demon on a BMX bike? Whatever challenge you choose, at Start2Bike on Saturday, September 21, in Kiewit, you get the chance to discover it all!
Sportdienst Hasselt, in collaboration with Cycling Vlaanderen and the Vlaamse Wielerschool Limburg, invites all children between 8 and 14 years old to Start2Bike in Kiewit on Saturday, September 21! Certified trainers are ready to guide you from your very first meters on the bike.
Are you ready to follow in the footsteps of champions like Mathieu van der Poel or Lotte Kopecky? Seize this opportunity and choose three out of four disciplines: BMX, mountainbiking, cyclocross, or road cycling, or get acquainted with the brand-new mountainbike course. Throughout the event, parents, brothers, and sisters can participate for free in the Kidz on Wheelz course, the traffic park, or one of the other cycling activities.
There are two sessions: morning (10:00 - 13:00) or afternoon (14:00 - 17:00). Each session consists of three 45-minute initiations. Bring your own bike or borrow one on-site. Participation costs 10 euros.
New and improved MTB course for daredevils
Sportpark Kiewit has it all: cycling, running on the Finnish track, climbing, and team-building in the Action Park,... And yet, in the past few months, the City of Hasselt has gone all out to further enhance the offerings. The existing mountainbike course has been thoroughly revamped and expanded with an initiation course and a technical skills park. The agility course allows you to practice all the obstacles on the way. This way, everyone can gain the necessary confidence to tackle the real course.
With two entrances, a wooden wallride, some challenging skinnies – a kind of balance beam – gap rides, a rock garden, and jumps, you’ll be heading straight for adventure. The main loop offers more than 2 kilometers of cycling fun! In short, a true mountain bike paradise for all enthusiasts, from beginners to experienced cycling fanatics.
