The 2024 UEC Road European Championships will take place from 11 to 15 September inclusive. For the first time, the European Championship is coming to Flanders and, more specifically, the province of Limburg is putting its cycling aces on the table. All races start in Heusden-Zolder and have their finish in Hasselt. A total of 14 championships are involved. After an attractive race in which the Limburg loop served as a backdrop for the attacking spirit, especially that of world champion Van der Poel, it ultimately ended in a bunch sprint in Hasselt. In this, Merlier was the fastest.
After a closed race, Puck Langenbarg came out on top. The Dutch rider was faster than the German Messane Bräutigam and the Czech Stepanka Dubcova in a bunch sprint.
To loud cheers, the Elite Women set off in Heusden-Zolder for a 162 km race. In a thrilling bunch sprint, Lorena Wiebes from the Netherlands claimed her second European title, with Italy's Elisa Balsamo finishing second and Poland’s Daria Pikulik third.
151 Men Junior started their European Championship at the Sport Vlaanderen Heusden-Zolder Velodrome in Limburg. The Norwegian Orn-Kristoff defeated the Spaniard Hector Alvarez Martinez and the Frenchman Paul Seixas.
