EK Limburg 2024 vzw and hip-hop artist Daniël Busser launch official anthem
Wednesday marks the start of the European Cycling Championship in Limburg, Flanders. While Heusden-Zolder and Hasselt prepare for five days of cycling festivities, the organization is launching an official Championships song today in collaboration with Limburg artist Daniël Busser. Zet Mich Toch Op Menne Fiets will set the tone for the Championships in the coming days and is now available on streaming platforms.
Highlighting Limburg and the host cities is the focus over the next few days, alongside the athletic performances. With Zet Mich Toch Op Menne Fiets the organization teams up with local talent from Limburg. The song serves multiple purposes: its catchy tune adds to the atmosphere, while the collaboration with a hip-hop artist can attract a younger audience, spreading the love for cycling in Limburg beyond just die-hard cycling fans.
The song itself is a blend of cycling and Limburg culture. By incorporating Limburg’s sounds and dialect, the track captures the local atmosphere and warmth, enhancing the Championship's experience. The fact that it was created by a local hip-hop artist introduces an additional ambassador for this unique sporting event in Flanders’ premier cycling province.
"I wrote the song from the perspective of a cyclist I know personally, with the intention of motivating him," says Daniël Busser, who created the song with producer/artist OSKI. "But it’s really about all forms of perseverance. Whether you're cycling or have another passion, the message remains the same: if you fall, you get back up and keep going. It’s an anthem for anyone who wants to excel at something and is willing to keep fighting, no matter the setbacks."
Daniël will donate the streaming revenues from the song to a charity. His fans will have the chance to decide which charity via social media.
